Volkswagen has taken the wraps off its new Tarok pickup truck concept at the ongoing Sao Paulo motor show 2018. It will be the brand’s answer to the very popular Fiat Toro pickup in South America.

The Volkswagen Tarok pickup shares its exterior panels and interior bits with the India-bound T-Cross SUV that was revealed recently. The Tarok pickup, however, is longer than the T-Cross SUV, which means the former sits on a slightly larger version of the MQB A0 architecture than the one on which the latter is based.

The production-spec Tarok will come with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol motor and Volkswagen says the concept is actually a thinly veiled version of former, which will hit the local markets soon.

While there is no news of the Volkswagen Tarok making it our shores, we think it could be VW’s contender in the steadily growing lifestyle pickup segment in India that's currently dominated by the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross.
