Tata Motors Group has registered a growth in global sales of 84% for the month of December 2009 as compared to the corresponding month in 2008. The company has managed to sell 74,707 units of passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles.
The group had cumulative sales of 5,95,766 units in the fiscal year (April-December 2009) which is higher by 9% when compared to the subsequent period in 2008-09.
With sales of 37,381 units in the passenger car segment for December 2009, Tata Motors saw a growth of 51percent, although cumulative sales for the fiscal going down by 2%. Similarly for the commercial vehicles, the company registered a growth of 137% for the month of December 2009. Collective sales for the fiscal have also gone up by 25%.
The company’s iconic brands, Jaguar Land Rover sold 21,134 vehicles globally in December 2009, a growth of 33 percent. More than 4,700 vehicles were sold by Jaguar (5% growth), while Land Rover sold 16,340 vehicles, a growth of 45%. However cumulative sales of JLR for the fiscal have gone down by 26% at 1,36,978 units.
The Tata Motors Group consists of of Tata, Jaguar and Land Rover, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera.
