Tata Motors unveiled its latest crossover vehicle, the Aria, at the Auto Expo 2010. Built on an all-new platform (code: X2), Aria will be Tata’s most expensive and luxurious model.

Positioned above the Safari, the new Aria will be Tata’s flagship model and will feature plush interiors furthermore setting new standards for space and comfort.

Aria will sport the same 140bhp 2.2-litre DiCOR engine doing duty in the Safari. Built on a 2750mm chassis, Aria will come loaded with technology and electronic systems. Aria will be the first of Tata cars to be offered with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) system.

The car has impressive interiors with good space all-around. The interiors, with three rows of seating, presents a luxurious feel to the car. The Aria also has an in-dash built in GPS, a state-of-the-art infotainment system, multifunctional steering wheel, dual air conditioning with automatic climate control and cruise control.

Expected to be launched in the next few months, Tata has positioned the Aria as an up-market people mover and this will be the car maker’s answer to the hot selling Toyota Innova.

Since Aria is positioned above the Safari, expect the prices to be in the region of Rs 12 -13 lakh.
