Mahindra-owned SsangYong has taken the wraps off its latest compact SUV, the Tivoli, earlier known as the X100 in Seoul, South Korea.

The big news, however, is that the Tivoli's powertrain details have finally been confirmed. The latest SsangYong will debut with an all-new 124bhp, 1.6-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, or an optional six-speed automatic. For the European market, an all-new 1.6-litre diesel, which will also be making its debut, is likely to be the more popular option. It's unlikely that the Tivoli will be launched in the Indian market, however, Mahindra is readying a 1.5-litre version of this diesel engine for its own vehicles.

The Tivoli has retained the new family design cues that were shown on the various 'XIV' concepts that have previewed it over the last few years; most recently the XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure from the 2014 Paris Motor Show. It's a good combination of rugged and aggressive looks. The cabin too is quite bold - it has a contrasting roof lining, along with a host of customisation options with which owners can customise their car's interior.

The top Korea-spec SsangYong Tivoli is also very well equipped, with kit like a seven-inch touchscreen, heated seats, flat-bottomed heated steering, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, parking sensors with a reversing camera, and cruise control. It even gets as many as seven airbags.

The SsangYong Tivoli will go on sale in international markets in June 2015.
