Renault has launched a more powerful iteration of the Kwid at Rs 3.82 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The airbag-equipped RxT (O) is priced at Rs 3.95 lakh. The Kwid 1.0 is powered by a larger 999cc three-cylinder petrol engine developing 68hp and 91Nm of torque, paired to a five-speed manual gearbox as standard. An AMT option is expected to join the line-up in the future.

Design-wise, the differences between the 1.0-litre Kwid and its 800cc sibling are few. The Kwid 1.0 comes with silver-finished wing mirror housings and a checkered strip along the lower door panels. The cabin remains unchanged.

Available only in the top-spec RxT trim, the Kwid 1.0 borrows the touchscreen infotainment system from its 800cc sibling, and gets the option of a driver-side airbag as well. In addition, the updated Kwid comes equipped with seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters, a first in this segment.

The Kwid has been a successful model for Renault with the automaker recording sales of over 80,000 units in less than a year of launch. The new 1.0-litre engine will further strengthen the brand’s position in the segment, as key rivals such as Maruti and Hyundai already offer 1.0-litre variants of the Alto and the Eon.

Here's a look at the ex-showroom, Delhi prices of the Renault Kwid 1.0 and its rivals.
