Volkswagen India has rolled out its 400,000th car from its Chakan facility near Pune, the company has said. The 400,000th car to that marked the milestone was the Polo facelift with the new 1.5-litre diesel engine that was launched only last week.

Volkswagen started manufacturing its cars in India in March 2009. The Chakan plant produces the Polo, Vento, and the Skoda Rapid. The plant also exports cars to 32 markets across three continents. VW India’s product line up consists of the Polo, Vento, Jetta and Passat. The Jetta and the Passat are only assembled at Skoda’s Aurangabad facility in India.

The facelifted Polo GT TSI, GT TDI and Cross Polo will go on sale in September this year. The new Polo gets cosmetic tweaks on the outside and the inside, and a new 1.5-litre diesel engine.
