Honda unveiled the new second-generation NSX mid-engined hybrid sportscar at the Detroit motor show in January this year. The car featured radical styling and a petrol-hybrid powertrain, but the company hadn't revealed the actual power figures, though it was expected to be around the 550bhp mark.

Honda has now revealed that the powertrain is capable of developing 573bhp with the front wheels being powered by a set of 36bhp electric motors, while the rear wheels draw power from a 500bhp 3.5-litre twin-turbo V8 along with a 47bhp assist motor mounted between the engine and a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The manufacturer claims that the car can achieve a top speed of 307kph and a 0-100kph time of around 3 seconds.

The new NSX’s reveal marked 25 years since its predecessor was first introduced to the public. The new model was slated to go into production internationally sometime during the second half of this year though delays have now shifted the launch to early 2016.
