Nissan has announced a massive reduction in prices for the Sunny across variants and its range now starts at a price point that is almost a lakh cheaper than before. The base petrol XE trim is now priced at Rs. 6.99 lakh and diesel top-end at Rs. 8.99 lakh. The petrol CVT automatic transmission now comes in top-end XV trim only at a price of Rs. 8.99 lakh, almost Rs. 2 lakh less than before and the mid XL CVT has been discontinued.

Nissan says the reason for this price is that they were able to pass on to customers the benefits of lower costs due to local production.

Now, with its new pricing, Nissan has positioned the Sunny much closer to the high selling compact sedan segment which includes cars like the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Ford Figo Aspire.

The Sunny is now available in 3 petrol variants XE, XL and XV with the top-end only available with a CVT automatic transmission. The diesel gets an additional XV safety variant that gets side airbags as well. Earlier this year Nissan updated the Sunny with new all-black interiors and a new exterior paint shade. However, there were no mechanical changes on the update, and the sedan continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine.
