Nissan’s newly launched Gravite compact MPV has outsold its sibling, the Renault Triber, in its first full month of sales. The model, which was launched in mid-February 2026, recorded 2,375 units in March. In comparison, the Renault Triber posted 2,011 units in the same period, giving the Gravite a lead of 364 units. Within Nissan’s own line-up, the Gravite also overtook the Magnite, which registered 2,033 units, making the MPV the brand’s highest-selling model for the month.
- Gravite outsells Triber by 364 units in March
- Total dispatches since launch stand at 2,603 units
- Accounts for 54 percent of Nissan’s total monthly sales in March 2026
Gravite drives Nissan’s strongest monthly performance in years
The impact of the Gravite on Nissan India’s overall volumes has been immediate. In March 2026, the MPV accounted for 54 percent of the company’s total domestic wholesales of 4,408 units. This effectively means that more than one in every two Nissan vehicles sold during the month was a Gravite. The strong contribution from a single model has helped lift Nissan’s monthly dispatches to their highest level in the past five years.
The Gravite recorded 228 units in February, its launch month, taking total dispatches since its introduction to 2,603 units in under two months. The Gravite is also positioned aggressively in the segment, with its introductory price set at Rs 11,000 lower than the Renault Triber, currently making it the most affordable MPV in India.
New model offsets weak FY2026 performance
Nissan India ended FY2026 with total wholesales of 24,300 units, down 13 percent year-on-year from 27,881 units in FY2025.
Despite being on sale for less than two months, the Gravite has already contributed around 11 percent to the company’s total wholesales for the financial year. This highlights the model’s importance in supporting Nissan’s volumes, which have relied on the Magnite in recent years. However, it remains to be seen whether the model can sustain this momentum in the coming months.
