SsangYong is readying a replacement for its ageing Rexton SUV. This new SUV will be unveiled next year and will be previewed in concept form at the upcoming Paris motor show 2016. The manufacturer is planning to launch three new models over the next three years and believes will move it towards profitability and increase global production towards 5,00,000 units a year.

The all-new Rexton (Codename: Y400) will grow slightly larger in dimensions and will be aimed squarely at the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fe SUV. The new Rexton will come with a 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor globally. New tech on the next-gen Rexton will include lane-departure warning and autonomous braking system.

SsangYong is also planning to launch a full-size pickup truck based on the next-gen Rexton (Codename Q200). This new pickup will rival the likes of the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux sold overseas. Powertrain options will be shared with the Rexton SUV.

The manufacturer is also planning to replace the Korando SUV with an all-new third-generation model. Styling for the next-gen Korando will be inspired from the Tivoli. The new Korando will also share the monocoque architecture and suspension bits from the Tivoli. There is no news when SsangYong will bring in these new SUVs to India.
