Toyota recently revealed the all-new Fortuner SUV, which is now on sale in Thailand and Indonesia. The next unveil lined up by the company is expected to be of the new Innova which is likely to take place on November 23, 2015.

A few months ago, spy photos that showed the new Innova in its final production form were circulated on the internet. Its styling takes cues from current-generation Toyotas, such as the new Altis, Camry, and crossovers sold internationally like the Highlander. The side profile still maintains the van-like shape to an extent, apart from the few design tweaks.

Like the current version, the new Innova is based on Toyota’s Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform that also underpins the Hilux pickup truck and the Fortuner SUV. This means that it will continue to be based on a ladder-frame chassis. The overhangs look a bit longer than the previous Innova, and this could imply more space on the inside. Toyota is expected to focus on offering more space in the third row and also improve on interior quality.

The new Toyota Innova will come with a 2.4-litre engine, from the company's recently unveiled GD series of engines, which also comes in a 2.8-litre guise. This new engine, codenamed 2GD-FTV, is rated at 148bhp and delivers a healthy 40.78kgm of torque.  The 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV is the one that does duty on the new Fortuner SUV. It churns out 175bhp and 45.9kgm of torque.

Although not official yet, but it can be safe to assume that Toyota could showcase the next-gen Innova at the Auto Expo 2016 in India.
