Chevrolet has recently released a teaser image of its upcoming 2016 Spark hatchback. The car is set for its global debut on April 2 at the New York and Seoul motor shows, and is likely to be offered in India as the new Beat hatchback.

The car has been billed by Chevrolet as all-new, featuring a completely revolutionary design compared to the outgoing model as seen from the pictures of the car caught testing in Korea. It  features the signature Chevrolet grille, swooping headlamps and prominent creases. The car is expected to be based on the Vauxhall Viva and Opel Karl, but will feature rear doors with high mounted handles as in the outgoing model.

Photos of the new Chevrolet Beat have already leaked earlierThe company has yet to officially reveal specifications, but the car is expected to feature a naturally aspirated three-cylinder 1.0-litre engine mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Given that the new Beat is expected to take cues from the Vauxhall Viva and Opel Karl, it is likely to be 3,680mm long and get a 2,385mm wheelbase, while the trunk capacity is expected to stand at almost 1,000 litres with the rear seats folded.

The car is also expected to get options like cruise control, heated front seats, sunroof, park assist, infotainment system and a heated steering wheel. However, details of the India-spec car are not clear yet.
