The new Mini Convertible was seen testing in preparation of its launch which is scheduled for early 2016. The soft-top Mini will be the last of the four models to be added in the new Mini line-up, following the three-door and five-door hatchback, and the new Clubman.

Like the other models in the range, this Mini Convertible shares the same UKL1 platform. The car carries forward the folding soft-top roof and four-seat cabin arrangement from the outgoing model.

The interiors are expected to be updated, to make it more in line with the hatchback.
The light camouflage on this prototype hides most styling changes, but the more distinctive front and rear end will give the convertible a stronger look.

Engines will be those offered on the hatchback — 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre petrol units alongside a 1.5-litre diesel. Each engine option will be turbocharged and will meet Euro 6 emissions regulations. The manufacturer is likely to introduce more engine options in the future. The Mini Convertible is not sold in India yet. But the carmaker does offer the Cooper S, the Cooper D and the Countryman here.
