Mercedes-Benz India has launched a limited-run ‘Celebration Edition’ of its flagship electric sedan, the EQS. Only 50 units of the EQS 580 Celebration Edition will be made – priced at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom) a pop – and each of them includes added creature comforts for rear occupants, and notably, a higher powertrain output. According to Mercedes-Benz, the new EQS 580 special edition celebrates the German carmaker’s recent 73 percent uptick in luxury EV sales during the first five months of 2025.

Reclinable rear seats with massage and lumbar support

One of the headline additions to the EQS 580 Celebration Edition’s interior is a Rear Seat Comfort Package, which includes multi-contour seats with massage functions and lumbar support. They can recline up to 38 degrees as well, and Mercedes-Benz has also included a Chauffeur Package that allows for the front seats to be electronically tilted from the rear.

Nappa leather upholstery, advanced GPS system as standard

Moreover, the entire cabin is upholstered in Nappa leather as standard, and the EQS 580 Celebration Edition gets designer seatbelt buckles, too. Lastly, the electric sedan’s infotainment setup features Mercedes-Benz's MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation system, which overlays real-time navigation instructions onto a live camera view of the road.

    No changes on the outside

The EQS 580 Celebration Edition features no styling updates over the standard version, retaining its sleek and aerodynamic proportions, illuminated grille cover, LED headlights and rear light bar, 20-inch alloy wheels, and more. The EQS 580 is 5,216mm long, 2,125mm wide and 1,512mm tall, with a 3,210mm wheelbase and 124mm ground clearance.

Mercedes EQS 580 Celebration Edition battery and range

21hp and 3Nm higher output than standard EQS

The EQS 580 Celebration Edition features some tweaks beneath the skin, as it generates a bit more power and torque than the standard model. The massive 107.8kWh battery pack remains, and still spins up two electric motors – one for each axle – enabling an all-wheel-drive layout. However, the powertrain output has been upped to 544hp and 858Nm, up 21hp and 3Nm from the standard EQS 580's 523hp and 855Nm figures. Despite the increased grunt, the EQS 580 Celebration Edition has the same 4.3sec claimed 0-100kph time.

Range slightly dips, but still higher than every EV currently available in India

In terms of range, the EQS 580 was a record-breaker in this regard thanks to its 857km ARAI-certified figure – the highest claimed range of any EV currently sold in India by a long margin. However, due to the hiked output of the EQS 580 Celebration Edition, its claimed range has dipped by 40km - now rated at 817km - but the electric sedan continues to hold its record of the longest-travelling EV in India right now. As for charging, the EQS 580’s battery can be topped up via 7.4kW and 11kW AC chargers that take 11-17 hours for a full charge, or a 200kW DC fast charger that takes 31 minutes for a 0-80 percent charge.
