Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 V-Class in India at Rs 1.4 crore, ex-showroom, with deliveries starting by the end of March; priority allocation will be provided to existing Mercedes car owners. Essentially the facelifted version of the previous V-Class sold between 2019 and 2022, the new luxury van packs several exterior and interior upgrades and a new petrol engine option.

  1. 2026 V-Class will be assembled locally at Mercedes’s Chakan plant in Pune
  2. Its 3.4-metre wheelbase is the longest of all Mercedes cars in India
  3. The inclusion of Airmatic air suspension should improve ride comfort
  4. AMG Line cosmetic package is standard on the India-spec V-Class

Mercedes said that the top-end vehicle (TEV) segment grew by about 11 percent in 2025, and one in every four Mercedes cars is of the TEV lineup. As a result, it decided to bring back the luxury van in its updated avatar. In terms of rivals, the V-Class is up against the Lexus LM and Toyota Vellfire.

The carmaker is offering the V-Class only in the 3.4-metre extra-long-wheelbase guise, the longest of any Mercedes car in India. AMG Line styling is standard, courtesy of which comes a three-pointed star-studded grille up front; these signature motifs are even on the blanked-off air dams below. Multi-beam LED headlights with daytime running lamps (DRLs) and a sporty-looking bumper round off this section.

The slab-sided design in profile is marked by electrically operated doors at the back that slide open/close with a pull on the door handle. The India-spec model is equipped with dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, which look a bit small given the V-Class’s sheer size; a 19-inch option is available in select international markets.

At the rear, there is an upright tailgate, which is electrically operated. But the highlight here is that the glass can be opened, providing easy access to the storage area to store small bags and even groceries. The tail-lamps have vertical LED elements similar to the pre-facelift V-Class. Exterior colour choices include Obsidian Black, High-tech Silver, Alpine Grey, Sodalite Blue and Crystal White.

Captain seats, Burmester sound system, driver-monitoring system

Both black and beige colour choices will be provided for the leather upholstery. Speaking of the seating layouts, the chauffeur-driven buyers who want maximum cabin space will appreciate the 4-seater version with two captain seats in the last row, offering extendable leg support alongside cooling, heating and massaging functions. The 6-seater configuration offers two middle-row setups: one with seats facing the third row and the other in a conventional forward-facing layout.

A notable inclusion on the V-Class is the Airmatic air suspension with adaptive damping as standard, which has been tuned for our roads. Those seated have also been pampered with a 650W 15-speaker Burmester audio system featuring Dolby Atmos and sunshades (in the second and third rows), but a sunroof is absent, let alone a panoramic unit. The windows here cannot be opened either.

Coming to the front seats, they are powered and offer ventilation. Both the digital driver’s display and the central touchscreen measure 12.3 inches, with the latter offering wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There are physical controls for climate settings and for operating the doors and ambient lights.

Safety

Mercedes has also equipped the V-Class with a driver-monitoring system with a camera. ISOFIX anchors, 7 airbags, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a 360-degree camera setup, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, adaptive cruise control, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and hill-start assist are also available. Euro NCAP has awarded the V-Class a full 5-star rating in its crash tests.

New Mercedes V Class engine options

2L diesel and turbo petrol

There are two variants on offer: V300 d diesel and V300 petrol. The diesel V-Class uses a 2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged heart producing 237hp, while the petrol version’s 2-litre engine makes 231hp and gets mild-hybrid assist. Both engines come mated to a 9-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. A three-year warranty is standard, and buyers can also opt for curated service packages for the V-Class, starting from Rs 90,000.
