Mercedes-Benz has collaborated with Carzonrent, a car rental service provider, to offer luxury cars on rent. As opposed to chauffer driven luxury cars that you can rent today, this service is for people who’d want to drive the car themselves. This self-drive concept is being offered under the brand 'Myles'. Although this service is already offered by Carzonrent with cars like the Maruti Swift VDI, the Toyota Innova and Etios, Mercedes-Benz is the first luxury carmaker to join its line up.

Mercedes hopes to attract young customers with the self-drive car rental service. Under this, customers can rent Mercedes sedans on a daily or hourly basis. Interested customers can rent C-class and E-class models for a day for Rs 6,500 and Rs 9,500 respectively. Alternatively, they can also be hired for Rs 900 and Rs 1,200 per hour for a maximum of 25km and that includes fuel cost (paying for additional hours will get you additional kilometers). In the future, Mercedes-Benz will also look at introducing more models into this self-driving programme.

Eberhard Kern, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, “This unique hassle free mobility solution will extend our luxury experience beyond our existing customers. We have always introduced newer products and services for the satisfaction of our customers.”

Carzonrent claims that the Myles service will have a fleet of over a 1,000 cars by 2015 and will grow to around 5,000 cars in the next three years. The Myles service can be accessed online, on the mobile or by calling the reservation centre.
