Maruti has finally launched the Vitara Brezza in the Indian market. Unveiled at Auto Expo 2016, the Vitara Brezza was one of the popular displays at the event.

The Vitara Brezza is powered by Maruti’s tried and trusted 1.3-litre diesel engine that delivers 89bhp. The engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, with an AMT version expected in the future. This engine delivers a fuel economy figure of 24.3kpl which makes the Vitara Brezza the most fuel-efficient compact SUV on sale in India.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is available in six variants. The higher spec trims get Maruti’s SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment unit that supports Apple CarPlay, while Android compatibility is being worked on. Top-spec variants also get push button start, reverse camera, cruise control, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power folding mirrors and dual airbags and ABS. A driver-side airbag will be standard fit on the base LDi and VDi models, but the option to purchase a safety package that brings with it a passenger airbag and anti-lock brakes is on offer. Base and middle-spec versions are equipped with 15-inch tyres while top-end models get 215/60 R16 tyres as standard.

Maruti has said that the Vitara Brezza is already certified for offset and side impact norms that will come into effect in India in 2017.

Like most of its newer offerings, Maruti seems to have got it right again with the Vitara Brezza’s pricing (of Rs 6.99 lakh). The car also does tick almost everything off the compact SUV buyer’s checklist.

To allow buyers to personalise their car's appearance, Maruti offers the Vitara Brezza with three accessory packages, namely Glamour, Sporty and Urban.
