Effective immediately, all Marutis (except the brand new Ignis) will be dearer by anywhere between Rs 1,500 and Rs 8,014. The bump in price will be applicable on cars sold via both the regular Maruti showrooms and the brand’s Nexa chain of premium outlets.

So, now smaller cars such as the WagonR and the Alto are costlier by around Rs 1,500, while prices for the more costlier Baleno have been hiked by up to Rs 8,014.

Unlike most manufacturers that hiked prices of their models on January 1, 2017, Maruti deferred the price hike on its model by nearly a month. The company quotes the increase in material prices, transportation and administrative costs as the reason for raising prices of its models.

The year 2017 is going to be a busy year for Maruti. It’s already kick-started the year with the stylish little Ignis and the WagonR VXi+ (an updated version of the WagonR). The company is soon to get its Gujarat plant up and running and will launch a sportier version of its Baleno premium hatchback as the Baleno RS. It will also bring in the Ciaz facelift, the all-new Swift hatchback and its compact-sedan sibling, the Swift-Dzire. Interestingly, Maruti will be bringing in the new Dzire to India even before the all-new Swift hits our shores.

2017 Maruti WagonR VXi+ launched at Rs 4.69 lakh

Maruti has expanded its WagonR line-up to include a new range-topping VXi+ trim, featuring added equipment and styling in line with the Stingray model with a similar front fascia and rear styling
