Mahindra XUV700

The XUV700 has been among Mahindra's bestsellers in the Indian market since its launch in August 2021. This popularity also translates to the XUV700 commanding notoriously long waiting periods.

With Mahindra gradually ramping up production for the XUV700, we had previously reported that the SUV's waiting period had reduced by up to four months. Now, the waiting periods for the base trims have further dropped to about two months.

  1. Mahindra XUV700 MX, AX3 variants now have a 2-month waiting period
  2. Top-spec variants see up to 6 months in waiting periods

The petrol and diesel versions of the base-spec MX and AX3 variants have a waiting period of up to two months – the least in the XUV700 line-up. The AX5 petrol and diesel variants command a three-month waiting period – down from six months previously.

The AX7 trim now sees a reduced waiting period of five months, while the AX7L saw up to six months. Previously, both these top-spec trims commanded waiting periods of eight and nine months, respectively.

Mahindra XUV700 powertrain, seating configurations

Mahindra offers the XUV700 in both 5- and 7-seater configurations, and with a number of powertrain options. The 2-litre turbocharged mStallion engine powers the petrol XUV700, producing 200hp and a meaty 380Nm of torque. On the diesel front, the XUV700 is available with two different tunes for the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine – 155hp with 360Nm of torque and 180hp with an impressive 420Nm of torque. The diesel automatic variant gets 450Nm of torque.

Paired with the engines are two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The base-spec MX trim is only available with a 6-speed manual whilst all other variants offer a choice of either a manual or automatic transmission. Mahindra also offers the XUV700 with all-wheel-drive option for the AX7 and AX7L trims.

Mahindra XUV700 pricing, rivals

The XUV700 range has a starting price of Rs 14.03 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base-spec MX petrol variant and Rs 14.47 lakh (ex-showroom) for the MX diesel variant. As far as its rivals are concerned, the XUV700 squares up against the MG Hector Plus, the recently updated Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar.
