Mahindra has revealed that it has managed to sell over 75,000 units of its XUV500 SUV in a little over two years. Launched in September 2011, the Mahindra XUV500 SUV is designed entirely in-house at Mahindra's Chennai facility.

Pravin Shah, chief executive, automotive division, said, “We are overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response from customers to the XUV500". He further added, "This is a benchmark for sales among high-end SUVs, for which we are humbled".

The company recently launched the more affordable 'W4' model of the Mahindra XUV500, powered by the 140bhp mHawk motor, at Rs 10.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Mahindra XUV500 W4 gets features like a basic infotainment system with four speakers and CD and MP3 compatibility but, owing to the lower price tag, misses out on features available on the higher variants like rain-sensing wipers, automatic climate control and powered wing mirrors, among others.
