Jaguar has revealed its first China-assembled model – a new long-wheelbase version of its XF sedan, called the XF L, at the Beijing motor show 2016.

The China-only model is 140mm longer than the regular car, with the rear legroom extended by 157mm and knee room by 116mm.

Designed primarily to be a chauffeur-driven car, Jaguar has added luxuries to the XF L cabin, especially at the rear. Occupants get dual 8-inch screens that can display media streamed via the car’s Wi-Fi hotspot, or from devices connected through the HDMI/MHL ports. The system works with a 17-speaker, 825W Meridian Surround Sound System. Passengers also get folding tables, heated and cooled seats with a massage function, four-way lumber adjustment and window blinds, and the whole cabin features a new air-cleaning ionisation system.

Up front, there's a 10.2-inch touchscreen that runs InControl Pro infotainment, and a 12.3-inch virtual instrument cluster with 3D mapping.

With the extra length, the XF L is about 200kg heavier than its standard sibling. It comes with a choice of petrol engines: Jaguar’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor available in two states of tune – 200hp and 240hp, and a 340hp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 unit. All engines are offered with an eight-speed automatic gearbox with all-wheel drive as standard.

The XF L is the first Jaguar to be built at the firm’s Chery Jaguar Land Rover plant in Changshu, which is also China’s first purpose-built aluminium body shop.
