Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) launched its Eon hatchback with a 1.0-litre Kappa engine. The new engine is bigger and more powerful, producing 68bhp and 9.6kgm of peak torque. It is available only in the Magna+ variant at Rs 3.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The 1.0-litre Eon is available alongside the 0.8-litre Eon. It also adheres to Euro 5 standards.

The carmaker has used an all-aluminium head and block on the Kappa engine, and claims it will reduce the weight of the car. Hyundai has also worked on minimizing the noise, vibration and harshness levels, and efficient functioning of the engine. The 1.0-litre Kappa engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Commenting on the occasion, B S Seo, managing director and CEO, HMIL said, “Hyundai consistently innovates to meet and exceed the demands of the customer, and the 1.0-litre Kappa engine now offered in Eon is an extension of our modern-premium brand philosophy and will delight our customers with unparalleled driving experience and further consolidate Hyundai’s position in the domestic market.”
