Hyundai has unveiled the new Elantra sedan in Korea. The sixth-generation car is longer by 20mm and wider by 25mm than its predecessor, indicating a more spacious interior, and according to Hyundai, this will be equivalent to the space offered on vehicles a class higher. The new Elantra also comes with improved quality materials and uses more soft-touch materials on the inside. The cabin features a cockpit display that is angled at 6.9 degrees towards the driver; the buttons on the dash and centre console too are regrouped ergonomically.

The new Elantra also gets a reworked suspension geometry leading to better ride and handling. The steering is also said to be tweaked to improve feel at variable speeds.

In the Korean market, three engines are on offer:

  • 2.0 Nu petrol: 147bhp, 18.35kgm
  • 1.6 GDi petrol: 130bhp, 16.41kgm of torque
  • 1.6 VGT diesel: 134bhp, 30.59kgm of torque

The Hyundai Elantra comes with either a six-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The diesel version can also be opted with an all-new seven-speed DCT transmission. Hyundai recently updated the fifth-gen Elantra in India, and no information has been revealed about the new model coming to our market.
