Honda India has launched a new free smartphone app – Honda Connect –  for iOS and Android, that offers drivers “advanced connectivity” with their Honda car.

The app offers convenience, utility and Connected Car features, which include service bookings, a manual SOS function, insurance and PUC reminders, impact alerts and trip analysis. Honda says the app will make the ownership experience for customers more “safe, convenient and enjoyable”.

To access the Connected Car features, a Connected Device developed by Minda i-Connect must be installed in the car. It is currently being offered by Honda dealerships exclusively to Jazz, City and CR-V customers at an introductory price of Rs 2,999 for the first 20,000 units sold.

Katsushi Inoue, President and CEO of Honda India welcomed the addition of the smartphone app. “Today technology has become an integrated part of our lives,” he said. “The development of Honda Connect is part of our missions to create innovations that best suit our customers’ digital-based life styles. This platform offers a value added communications channel that bonds Honda even more closely with our customers,"

The launch of the app also marks the occasion of the firm’s 20th anniversary, selling more than one million units since entering the Indian market in 1995.
