Introduced in April 2013, the Amaze marked the Japanese carmaker’s entry in the diesel segment. The facelifted Amaze was launched in March 2016 and was equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The Amaze sales, has since its launch, crossed a total of 203,894 units, 95,966 petrol and 107,928 diesel till April 2016. While the diesel-engined variant grabbed most of the sales for the first two years, a closer look at the sales chart provided reveals the consumer tilt towards the petrol-engined Amaze over the past 13 months.

The Amaze rivals the likes of the Maruti Dzire, the Ford Figo Aspire, the Tata Zest and Hyundai Xcent.

Commenting on the sales landmark, Jnaneswar Sen, senior vice president (marketing and sales), Honda Cars India, said, “The Amaze has established itself as a very successful entry sedan in the Indian market. The car has been extremely popular in both big and smaller cities due to its strong value offering and Honda’s core strengths of quality, durability and reliability.”
