Honda Cars India limited has announced that it has sold 88,000 units of the Amaze since its launch in April last year. Honda made an entry into the diesel car segment with its first sub-four metre sedan, the Amaze, with a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. Its petrol variant is powered by a 1.2-litre iVTEC petrol engine.

On the success of the Honda Amaze, the company’s Senior Vice President, Marketing & Sales said, “Honda Amaze has been a game changer in its segment and has enabled HCIL to reach out to so many new customers, bringing them into the Honda fold.”

Honda sold 7,218 units of the Amaze in May alone, the company’s overall sales reaching 13,362 in the same month, up 17.81 percent from May 2013 (11,342). Honda has said that it has also sold close to 40,000 units of its new fourth-generation City, which is now available with a diesel engine.
