Toyota has launched a new top variant on the Fortuner. The popular SUV now gets a five-speed automatic gearbox on the 4x4 variant, priced at Rs 26.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Apart from this mechanical change, there are a few cosmetic changes on the outside and in, as well as some feature additions. We had broken the news earlier about the new Fortuner variants, and addition of airbags in the Innova variants.

The new top-spec Fortuner 3.0 4X4 AT comes with the following features:

  • All-black interiors instead of the dual-tone theme seen on other Fortuner models
  • New 12-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels in dark-grey shade
  • Minor tweaks to the front fog-lamp housing
  • A touchscreen DVD display with navigation system equipped with voice-commands
  • Smoked-headlamp and tail-lamp inserts exclusive to this trim
  • Two new paint shades on offer - Bronze Mica Metallic and Silver Metallic

The Fortuner is powered by the 168bhp 3.0-litre diesel engine, and this top 4x4 variant gets a five-speed automatic transmission. This means the Fortuner is now available in four variants - 4×2 MT, 4x2 AT, 4×4 MT and the top 4×4 AT.

Toyota has also launched the updated Innova MPV with the following changes:

  • Dual front airbags and ABS standard on all variants
  • Slightly tweaked front grille, bumper and side mouldings
  • Newly designed leather seats with a folding second and third row
  • New ‘oak” interior shade and wood finish on armrests for higher variants
  • Third-row AC roof-mounted vents for G-trim level up
  • Two new paint shades - Bronze Mica Metallic and Silver Metallic

The Innova is available in the price range of Rs 10,51,451 and Rs 15,80,930, ex-showroom, Delhi (post increased excise duty).

The all-new Fortuner is available in the price range of Rs 24,17,200 and Rs 26,49,429, ex-showroom, Delhi (post increased excise duty).

Toyota is also working on another new variant for the Fortuner, the 2.5-litre version. The carmaker has begun testing the next-generation models of the Fortuner and the Innova, expected to be revealed later this year. These are likely to hit our showrooms in 2016.
