Ford is set to showcase the updated Ford EcoSport at the upcoming Shanghai motor show 2017. Revealed prior to the start of the show, the facelifted EcoSport for China only seems to get a few minor cosmetic changes as compared to the car shown at the LA motor show last year.

Styling changes to the car include new alloy wheels along with the use of a tailgate-mounted spoiler with a moulded cover, a feature that was discontinued in the European markets in the pre-facelifted model. Styling otherwise is near identical to its North American sibling.

Inside, there is little change to the interior, with the new dashboard, large central Ford SYNC 3 touchscreen and the centre console design carrying forward onto the China-spec model.

Under the hood, the China-specific model is offered with the choice of a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol or a larger 1.5-litre petrol engine, along with a 2.0-litre Duratec petrol motor that comes paired with an all-wheel-drive system. For the Chinese market, though, Ford is not offering a dual-clutch automatic gearbox for the petrol model and is instead offering a six-speed Select-Shift unit in place of PowerShift DCT unit.

Ford is expected to bring the updated EcoSport to India towards the end of the year with the car’s exterior styling expected to mirror its Chinese counterpart. Under the hood expect the existing set of engines to carry forward unchanged.
