Fiat's new four-door sedan Aegea was revealed at the 2015 Istanbul motor show. The manufacturer had then stated that the sedan would receive a new name closer to the launch date. It is now confirmed that Fiat has dropped the 'A' from its name, going with the name 'Egea'.

The production version was spotted at a dealership in Turkey, which is from where the Egea will commence its first sales. No changes have been made to the dimensions or the powertrains with the Egea measuring at 4.5 metres in length, 1.78 metres in width, and 1.48 metres in height along with a 2.64 metre-long wheelbase. Inside, the production version gets a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the Fiat UConnect media system, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity and a multi-function steering wheel.

The Egea will be powered by two Fiat MultiJet II diesel engines and two petrol engines in varying states of tune delivering power outputs between 94bhp and 118bhp. Both manual and automatic transmissions are on offer.

For India, Fiat is revaluating its plans as the Egea seems to be a promising replacement for the ageing Linea. It is also looking at the Grand Siena sold in South American market as a potential replacement for the Linea. There is also a hatchback variant of the Egea which was spotted testing recently in Europe and is rumoured to be introduced in the first quarter of 2016.
