Before its official debut, the brochure for the Datsun Go Cross has leaked online. The Japanese brand intends to unveil its new Go Cross cross-hatch in Indonesia on January 18.

The leaked brochure confirms that the Go Cross is a seven-seater based on the Go+ MPV, and that it comes with significant changes inside and outside.

The exterior features typical SUV-esque body cladding, projector headlamps, front fog lamps, LED position lamps, faux skid plates on the front bumper, sides and rear, a roof spoiler, a rear wiper and roof rails that can carry up to 30kg loads. The new 15-inch alloy wheels, shod with 175/65 R15 tyres, complete its rugged look.

On the inside, the Go Cross’ interiors are shared with the Go+, but see the infotainment system replaced by a 6.75-inch touchscreen unit, with AM/FM, MP3, USB, Aux-in, Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity; the two-speaker set-up continues.

In terms of equipment, Datsun has endowed the Go Cross with automatic headlamps with a follow-me-home function, front and rear power windows, electrically adjustable rear view mirrors and a power outlet. On the safety front, dual front airbags, ABS, stability control, rear parking sensors and seatbelts for all three rows are standard.

Power comes from the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally-aspirated engine that makes 68hp and 104Nm of torque and is found on the Go and Go+. The mechanical highlight is that the cross-hatch also gets a CVT automatic option, along with the five-speed manual gearbox. Braking duties are carried out by discs in the front and drums at the rear.

Datsun has not revealed exactly when the Go Cross will come to India. However, if it arrives, it will lock horns with cross-hatches like the Mahindra KUV100 NXT and Maruti CelerioX as well as compact SUVs such as the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata’s Nexon and the refreshed Ford EcoSport.
