General Motors India today announced a voluntary recall of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan after some vehicles were reported to be experiencing a loss of ignition or stalling of the engine at low speeds. The recall affects about 22,000 units of the Cruze manufactured between model years 2009-2011.

The carmaker estimates that the inspection and repairs or replacement will not take more than an hour.Owners will be asked to take their vehicles to the nearest Chevrolet service dealership for inspection and correction with a prior appointment, the company said in a statement.

The carmaker is also understood to be working closely with its service network to make the entire inspection and correction process as smooth as possible, with an option of pick up and drop to a residential address. The affected vehicles will be repaired free of charge at all General Motor India service centers across the country.

In December 2015, General Motors India had issued a recall of 1,01,597 units of its Chevrolet Beat diesel to rectify the faulty clutch pedal levers in the hatchbacks manufactured between December 2010 and July 2014.
