It’s recall season this December with General Motors India becoming the third company after Volkswagen and Honda to announce a voluntary call back of its cars.

GM has recalled 1,01,597 units of its Chevrolet Beat diesel, as the company suspects faulty clutch pedal levers in the hatchbacks manufactured between December 2010 and July 2014. If found to be defective during inspection, the unit will be replaced free of cost.

The manufacturer has started notifying owners of the Beat diesel to take their cars to any of Chevrolet’s 248 authorised service centres across India. Alternatively, customers can also contact their nearest Chevrolet dealership and schedule an appointment for vehicle inspection and correction.

In a statement issued, General Motors India said, “Quality and care are our highest priorities and we are committed to putting customers at the centre of everything we do. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction."

This is the second recall by GM India in 2015. Earlier in July, the automaker recalled 1,55,000 units of the Spark and Beat hatchbacks and the Enjoy MPV to replace the faulty remote keyless entry accessory.
