Borgward has revealed two new models in pre-production form – the Projekt BX6 TS and the BX5 - at the Geneva motor show 2016.

The Borgward BX5 measures 4,483mm in length, 1,876mm in width and 1,677mm in height. Described by the BAIC-owned company as a “prototype approaching the series-production stage”, the BX5 features equipment based largely on mass-production technology. The car showcased at the Geneva motor show is said to be powered by a plug-in-hybrid drive system composed of an internal combustion engine and electric motor, resulting in a total output of 258bhp.

The Project BX6, on the other hand, is the sportier variant of the two and features a coupé-like roofline. The concept is powered by a more powerful plug-in hybrid system that comprises a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor. The drivetrain produces a total of 422bhp to all four wheels.

Both the models will sit below the bigger BX7 that was showcased at the Frankfurt motor show last year. While both the models have been created with the Chinese market in mind, reports suggest that Borgward also plans to enter the European market sometime in the future.
