Audi’s Quattro division to be renamed Audi Sport

Audi Sport will introduce eight new models in the next 18 months; dealership count to go from 370 to 600 by end of 2017.

Audi has announced that its performance and technology division, Quattro GmbH will be renamed Audi Sport GmbH. Quattro, established in Neckarsulm (Germany) in 1983, currently has around 1,200 employees with Stephan Winkelmann at the helm. 

In addition to developing and manufacturing the Audi R8 and RS models, the division is responsible for Audi Sport customer racing as well. Other areas of business include car customisation options via the Audi exclusive programme, plus lifestyle articles marketed as the Audi Sport collection. The Audi subsidiary doubled its sales over the past five years. 

Over the next 18 months, Audi Sport GmbH will be launching eight new models, aiming to consolidate the company’s position in the market. The number of specialised Audi Sport dealers will increase from 370 at present to around 600 by the end of 2017. 

The product portfolio of Audi Sport GmbH currently comprises the following models: Audi RS3 sedan, Audi RS Q and Audi RS Q3 performance, Audi RS6 Avant and Audi RS6 Avant performance, Audi RS7 Sportback and Audi RS7 Sportback performance, Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster, Audi R8 Coupe and Spyder, and Audi S8 plus.
