Renault launched a major facelift for the Kwid hatchback on October 1, 2019 that brought with it contemporary exterior styling, revised interiors and more equipment, as well as upgrades to the body structure. However, no changes were made under the hood. The updated Kwid continues to be powered by either a 54hp, 800cc or a 68hp, 1.0-litre petrol engine allied to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Top-end variants with the larger capacity motor also get the choice of an AMT automatic transmission. The French automaker has decided to continue with BS4-spec powertrains for the time being and update them to the more stringent BS6 norms closer to the April 2020 deadline.

A driver-side airbag (with an optional passenger airbag on the higher trims), ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and a speed alert system are part of the standard safety equipment. In terms of convenience and creature comforts, the budget hatch gets split headlamps, LED DRLs, wheel arch cladding and a digital instrument cluster as standard, with the range topping Climber trim adding full wheel covers, skid plates, body cladding, remote locking, front power windows, a rear armrest, reverse camera and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

While the new Kwid comes with a commendable amount of kit for a car of its class, Renault has introduced a whole host of official accessories for individuals wanting to personalise their purchase.
