Starting with what's under the hood, the updated Dzire comes with a sole 1.2-litre, four-cylinder K12N DualJet petrol engine, which is also available with the Baleno. This new engine produces 90hp (7hp more than the engine it replaces). It is worth noting however, that unlike the unit in the Baleno, in the DualJet engine equipped Dzire is not being offered with Maruti’s SHVS mild-hybrid system to keep prices in check. That said, the engine does get idle start-stop tech, which will help maximise economy. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT), with the latter being offered with the K12N DualJet engine for the first time. Fuel efficiency for the Dzire facelift is rated at 23.26kpl for the manual version and 24.12kpl for the AMT version.

In terms of styling, the overall design has been kept intact with the most notable change coming in the form of the new grille design up front. There is a new front bumper and new fog light housings on offer.

Coming to the interiors, the dashboard layout remains unchanged though the Dzire facelift features Maruti Suzuki’s new SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support. Additionally, there’s new dual-tone upholstery and faux wood trim, and Maruti Suzuki has also included auto-folding ORVMs, a colour TFT screen for the MID and cruise control. AMT variants of the Dzire facelift get additional safety in the form of Electronic Stability Programme and Hill Hold Assist offered as standard.

The refreshed Dzire will continue to compete in the highly competitive compact sedan segment and it will face off against the likes of the BS6-compliant Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Hyundai Aura, and the Tata Tigor facelift in our market.
