Maruti Suzuki has revealed the complete price list of the recently introduced CNG AMT versions of the Dzire, Baleno and Swift. Their introductory ex-showroom prices begin at Rs 8.53 lakh, Rs 8.32 lakh and Rs 7.92 lakh, respectively. So far, Tata Motors was the only carmaker to offer an AMT option with CNG-powered vehicles.

The CNG AMT variants of the Dzire and Swift command a Rs 35,000 premium over their respective manual gearbox-equipped counterparts. In the Baleno’s case, the CNG AMT versions are Rs 40,000 pricier. Compared to their petrol AMT variants, the Dzire, Baleno and Swift CNG AMTs cost an additional Rs 81,000, Rs 79,500 and Rs 82,500, respectively.
Maruti Dzire, Baleno and Swift CNG AMT: What’s different?
Apart from the gearbox, the CNG AMT versions of the Dzire, Baleno and Swift are pretty much the same. As with their manual gearbox counterparts, Maruti has tweaked the suspension to handle the CNG tank’s extra weight, besides adding a fuel switch and a CNG fuel-level indicator.
All models are powered by Maruti’s 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated Z12E engine producing 70hp and 102Nm in CNG mode. In the AMT-equipped CNG version, the Dzire is claimed to return 36.47km/kg, the Baleno 34.47km/kg and the Swift 35.34km/kg. These mileage figures are higher than those of their manual counterparts.
However, unlike the Victoris and Brezza, which get an underbody-mounted tank, the CNG variants of the Dzire, Baleno and Swift have the tank fitted inside the boot, which also accommodates a spare wheel. This arrangement results in negligible boot space. Rival CNG AMT offerings from Tata, such as the Tigor, Altroz and Tiago, come with dual-cylinder tanks that allow for some usable boot space.
