Mahindra will finally launch the long-delayed Bolero Neo+ in the market by September 2023. Essentially a facelifted TUV300+, which was only on sale for less than three years, the new Bolero Neo+ will be aimed at Tier 2 customers looking for either a vehicle bigger than the popular Bolero or a slightly affordable alternative to the Scorpio Classic.

  1. Bolero Neo+ to get 7 variants
  2. Will come with 2.2-litre diesel with 120hp
  3. Will be positioned under the Scorpio Classic

Mahindra Bolero Neo+: third SUV in Bolero line-up

The pre-facelift Bolero Neo+, which was marketed as the TUV300+, was discontinued in 2020 when the BS6 norms kicked in. Since then, Mahindra has introduced a slew of launches, including the second-gen Thar, XUV700 and the Scorpio N, as well as other model updates. Now with most major SUV launches already done, Mahindra is working on reintroducing the TUV300+ with a brand new identity, styling tweaks and more features. The facelifted model has been undergoing tests since 2019. The addition of the Bolero Neo+ makes it the third SUV in the Bolero line-up besides the original Bolero and the Bolero Neo compact SUV.

Mahindra Bolero Neo+: seating options, variants, powertrain

As mentioned above, it will be aimed mostly at the Tier 2 and rural markets. It will be offered in around seven variants, as well as an ambulance version, thanks to the large cabin and rugged nature of the Bolero Neo+. Two seating options – a 7-seat version and a 9-seater – are expected to be on offer.

Under the hood, the Bolero Neo+ will be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine, which will be the same unit as the Scorpio N but will have a lower power output. Sources tell us that the Bolero Neo+ will produce around 120hp and not 132hp that the same engine produces on the Scorpio N and Thar. The sole gearbox on offer will be a 6-speed manual, and there won’t be a 4-wheel-drive variant on offer, making the entire Bolero passenger vehicle line-up 2WD only.

Bolero Neo+: will be positioned below the Scorpio N

The Bolero Neo+ will be another addition to Mahindra’s vast SUV line-up that starts with the standard Bolero and includes models like the Bolero Neo, the Scorpio Classic, the Scorpio N and the XUV700. The upcoming Bolero Neo+ will be positioned below the Scorpio Classic, however, there are chances of some variants overlapping each other. Expect more details of the upcoming Mahindra Bolero Neo+ in the coming weeks as the launch nears.
