The Discovery Sport not only gets refreshed styling, it also gets a new platform. It is now underpinned by the second-gen Evoque's Premium Transverse Architecture that has been engineered to accommodate electrified powertrains as well. Dimension-wise, the new Discovery Sport measures 4,600mm in length, 2,069mm in width, 1,724mm in height, and has a 2,741mm-long wheelbase.

The revised exterior design now brings the Discovery Sport more in line with newer Land Rover models like the Velar and Evoque. It gets new front and rear bumpers, a tweaked front grille, and restyled headlights and tail-lamps. The cabin, too, has been spruced up with a larger touchscreen, new AC controls and touch pads for the steering-mounted controls.

The facelifted Discovery Sport makes use of BS6-compliant, 2.0-litre petrol and diesel mills from JLR's Ingenium family of engines. The P250 petrol comes with a 48V mild-hybrid system and puts out 245hp and 365Nm of torque, while the D180 diesel churns out 180hp and 430Nm of torque. A 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system are standard across the range. Deliveries of the diesel versions will commence first, with the petrol variants set to follow soon.

In terms of features, the top-spec R-Dynamic SE gets a full-digital instrument cluster, a 10-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a Meridian audio system, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats, leather upholstery, LED headlights, heated door mirrors, a powered tailgate and a parking camera. Standard safety kit includes six airbags, ABS, ESC, emergency brake assist, roll stability control, a drowsiness monitor, lane-keep assist and front and rear parking sensors.

As before, the Discovery Sport will continue to offer a 5+2 seater configuration on both variants. The third row of seats is what sets it apart from rivals like the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC60, all of which are 5-seaters only.
