The Syros EV will be the brand’s smallest and most affordable EV in India upon launch.

Kia India is gearing up to launch the Syros EV in August this year, our sources have indicated. It will be the brand’s smallest and most affordable EV in India, pitted directly against the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV. Like its rivals, the Syros EV will be an ICE-to-EV conversion, albeit with its own EV-specific styling and feature updates.

  1. Syros EV will share K1 platform with its ICE counterpart
  2. Expected to get EV-specific updates inside and out
  3. Electric will be third powertrain type for Syros after petrol and diesel

Kia Syros EV: What to expect?

The Syros EV has already been spied testing on our roads on a couple of occasions, and even though the test mules were heavily camouflaged, it seemed largely unchanged from the ICE version. It’s expected to carry over the same quirky styling with a boxy silhouette and tallboy stance. Spy shots have hinted at a charging flap on the passenger-side front fender; it’s expected to get unique bumpers and perhaps distinctive alloy wheels, too. However, don’t expect it to deviate too far from the ICE version, much like the Carens Clavis and its electric counterpart.

The Syros has already been spied testing in India.

Inside, expect the dashboard to remain largely unchanged. The feature list, too, could be similar, save for the likely addition of some EV-specific offerings such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities. However, it remains to be seen whether the Syros EV will feature ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems), as it was removed from the ICE Syros with its model year 2026 update. It might even get EV-specific displays and different trim and upholstery.

Kia Syros EV powertrain and battery

The Kia Syros EV will use the same K1 platform as the ICE-powered Syros. Technical details are scarce currently, but we know it will come with a front-wheel-drive configuration. Internationally, the K1 platform also underpins the Inster EV, which gets 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. The India-spec Syros EV could come with battery packs of similar capacity.

Originally expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2026, the Syros EV has been delayed by about six months. However, it will still be arriving within a year and a half of the ICE-powered version’s launch.

The Kia Syros EV is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), rivalling the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
