Bookings for the Kia Syros EV have commenced today for a token amount of Rs 25,000.

Kia Syros EV battery, range and specs
The Kia Syros EV gets two battery pack options – 42kWh and 51.4kWh – both of which are already on offer on other Hyundai-Kia products like the Carens Clavis EV and Creta Electric. However, as the Syros EV is much smaller, it offers a lot more range. Kia is claiming a segment-best 526km ARAI range for the 51.4kWh version, while the 42kWh version returns a claimed 443km range.
The 51.4kWh version uses a 171hp/255Nm front axle motor, while the 42kWh version gets it in 135hp/255Nm state-of-tune. Kia is claiming a 0-100kph sprint time of 8.1 seconds for the 51.4kWh versions. It is also significantly more powerful than its immediate rivals, the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.
For charging, Kia is providing either a 7.4kW or a 11kW AC charger. Using the former, the smaller battery can be topped up from 10 to 100 percent in 6 hours, while the larger battery will take 7 hours 15 mins. Meanwhile, using a 100kW DC fast charger, the 51.4kWh battery can be topped up from 10 to 100 percent in 39 minutes.
The Kia Syros EV will be available in five trims: HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+ and X-Line. The smaller battery pack will be available on the first three, while the larger battery will be available on all but the base trim.
Kia Syros EV exterior and interior
On the outside and inside, though, not much has changed from the ICE-powered Syros. The only difference on the outside is the presence of a charging port on the front fender, replacing the traditional fuel filler port at the rear of the car. The front and rear lighting signatures, the body cladding and inserts on the bumpers and even the 17-inch alloy wheels are the same as the ICE-powered Syros.
Kia is offering the Syros EV with nine colour options, namely Glacier White Pearl, Frost Blue, Gravity Grey, Pewter Olive, Magma Red, Ivory Silver Matte, Ivory Silver Gloss and Aurora Black Pearl. The X-Line variant exclusively gets Matte Graphite and Aurora Black Pearl colour options.
On the inside, the highlight continues to be the Trinity panoramic display, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen and a 5.0-inch display for the climate controls. It also gets features like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad and 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Depending on the trim, the Syros EV gets three interior themes: Cloud Blue/Grey, Onyx Black/Off-White and Onyx Black/Hunter Green.
Kia has also carried over the Syros’ signature sliding, reclining and ventilated rear seats here on the EV, and the front seats are powered and ventilated. Other equipment highlights include panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, rear sunshades and dual camera dashcam. It also offers a small 16-litre frunk. On the safety front, the Syros EV gets Level 2 ADAS along with 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, ESC, hill start assists, front parking sensors, electronic parking brake and more.
