Earlier today, Hyundai India released the first set of images of its new hatchback, the Grand i10 Nios. The model will have a world premiere on August 20, 2019 in New Delhi, along with a price announcement for the Indian market. The new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios can now be booked at Hyundai dealerships, as well as online, for a booking amount of Rs 11,000; with deliveries expected to begin by the end of the month.
Today, we can confirm that the new Hyundai Grand i10 Nios will be sold in ten variants. The model, as reported by us earlier, will come with BS6-compliant 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engines mated to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. Just like some of its other models on sale in the Indian market, Hyundai will not offer an AMT on the top-spec trims.
Here's a look at the available engine and gearbox options on the new Grand i10 Nios.
The Grand i10 Nios petrol line-up will start with the base Era variant, which will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. The company will provide an AMT gearbox as an option on the Magna and Sportz variants. The Sportz trim will also come with a dual-tone exterior paint scheme. The top-spec Grand i10 Nios Asta will be loaded with all the bells and whistles but will only get a 5-speed manual gearbox.
As far as diesel engine variants go, the new Grand i10 Nios will have three trims starting with the Magna variant, which will be manual-only. Hyundai's diesel-AMT combination will make its India market debut on the brand-new model's diesel Sportz trim (which will be AMT-only). Also, just like the petrol version, the diesel's top-spec Asta variant will come with a manual gearbox; which means buyers looking to buy the Grand i10 Nios in diesel-AMT form will have to pick the Sportz trim.
Hyundai's new hatchback will not replace the current model on sale. Instead, it will sell concurrently and become the brand's fourth hatchback in its India portfolio. The new Grand i10 Nios will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Ford Figo in our market.
