Honda Shine 100 DX

The Shine 100 DX keeps the familiar Shine look but adds a few useful upgrades over the standard model. The larger 10-litre fuel tank makes the motorcycle look and feel a little more substantial, while the blacked-out engine, chrome garnish on the headlight and new colour options give it a slightly more premium appearance. The digital display is clean and easy to read, and the addition of tubeless tyres is a genuinely practical improvement for everyday use.

The riding position is neutral and easy to get along with, which is exactly what you want from a 100cc commuter. Despite the low 786mm seat height, the ergonomics never feel cramped, even for taller riders. The long, nearly flat seat is spacious enough for two adults, and the firmer padding helps it remain comfortable even after spending a few hours on the bike.

The 98.98cc engine is smooth and easygoing, and its performance feels unhurried but perfectly in line with what this class is meant to do. The gearbox ratios are well chosen, with the shorter lower gears helps in city traffic whereas the taller fourth gear keeps the engine relaxed on open roads. The real highlight is fuel efficiency, with the Shine 100 DX returning an excellent 77kpl overall, which gives it a near-800km range from the 10-litre fuel tank.

At just 103kg, the Shine 100 DX feels exceptionally light and nimble. Its slim proportions and tight turning radius make it very easy to filter through traffic and squeeze through narrow gaps. The suspension remains reasonably comfortable over everyday roads, and the rear setup works particularly well when riding with a pillion. The only real drawback is the braking performance, as the drum brakes feel quite weak even for a motorcycle of this size.

The DX gets a digital instrument cluster, tubeless tyres and a larger fuel tank, all of which are meaningful upgrades over the base Shine 100. However, the motorcycle continues with drum brakes at both ends, and braking performance is the weakest aspect of the package.

The Shine 100 DX is a simple, practical and extremely fuel-efficient commuter. For a relatively small premium over the standard model, it adds useful everyday upgrades such as tubeless tyres, a larger tank and a better instrument cluster. Weak brakes aside, it remains a very strong option for buyers looking for affordable, comfortable and dependable daily transport.
