Hi, I own a 2015 Bajaj Pulsar RS200 non-ABS variant. I use it as a daily commuter, and my weekend trips have reduced over the past three years since I use my car on weekends. I have clocked around 40,000 km. I now feel that the headlight brightness is not great. Do you suggest switching to an aftermarket white LED light? If yes, which brand should I go for? Also, please suggest the best auxiliary fog lights, preferably with options for both white and amber light.
If your Pulsar RS200's headlight is feeling inadequate, the first step should be to check the condition of the headlight reflectors and the lens too. Over time, reflectors can lose their effectiveness and lenses can become hazy, both of which significantly reduce light output. If the reflector is dull or the lens is cloudy, replacing the headlight assembly will restore the original performance and is often the most effective solution. If the headlight assembly is in good condition, upgrading the bulb is a sensible next step. Choose a bulb that offers a noticeable improvement in brightness and beam throw without compromising the reflector or causing glare. If you are considering an LED upgrade, it is important to choose a well-designed LED bulb that is specifically engineered to work with reflector housings. Choose from reputed companies and avoid generic LED bulbs, as they often scatter light and can be unsafe for oncoming traffic. For auxiliary fog lights, look for compact, well-built units from reputed brands with a focused beam pattern and a reliable switch. Do bear in mind that big brands like Maddog, Hella and Baja Designs, while worth considering, are definitely expensive. Many of these lights offer dual-colour functionality, allowing you to switch between white and amber depending on weather conditions. The key is to address the root cause first. If the reflector or lens is the issue, no bulb upgrade will fully solve the problem. Once the headlight is performing at its best, a high-quality bulb upgrade and well-chosen auxiliary lights will make a meaningful difference to your night-time visibility.
I own a BS3 Bajaj Pulsar RS200. Since my running is quite low, should I continue maintaining and keeping it, or would it be better to buy a new bike? I also wanted to ask whether switching from regular E20 petrol to XP100 for my RS200 is worth considering. I am currently using E20 fuel and getting only around 25 kmpl. Will XP100 improve the bike's performance or mileage enough to justify the higher cost?
If your running is low and your Bajaj Pulsar RS200 is otherwise in good condition, there is no compelling reason to replace it. As for fuel, switching to the much more expensive XP100 is not worth it. The RS200 is not a high-compression performance engine that would benefit from 100-octane fuel, and you will not see any meaningful improvement in performance or efficiency. The lower mileage you are seeing on E20 fuel is expected, as ethanol blends generally reduce fuel economy. The best approach is to continue using the RS200, maintain it well, and accept the slightly lower mileage as a normal consequence of E20 fuel. There is no need to spend extra on premium fuel or a new bike unless you have a specific reason to upgrade.
