According to the company, in extreme cases, the glitch is likely to impact the scooter’s steering operation. As part of an exercise to rectify the problem, the company will reach out to each Ray customer to process the recall.
The company discovered the fault during one of its field studies and has now identified all such units of the Ray scooter sold so far. India Yamaha Motor will be voluntarily replacing the handlebars in all such scooters free of charge.
The formal statement as issued by the company says that, “Yamaha constantly monitors the performance of the vehicles used by our customers as well as the performance of parts fitted in them. We will run the voluntary recall campaign on 56,082 units of the Ray as we have found that the handlebar fitted in some scooters may have insufficient strength due to inadequate welding which may in the worst case scenario have an impact on the steering operation. We will be rectifying the error by replacing the handlebar completely free of charge.” Continued..
