Piaggio India launches two scooters in Nepal

The Vespa VX is priced at NPR 2.5 lakh, and the Vespa S at NPR 2.64 lakh. The expansion is a part of the company's focus on globalisation of the brand.

Piaggio India has extended its operation to Nepal with the introduction of two models to its line-up for the country. The models unveiled are the Vespa VX and the Vespa S.

Both the scooters come with 125cc, four-stroke, three-valve engines that is good for 9.9bhp of maximum power, and 1.08kgm of maximum torque. The engines are mated to a CVT transmission. Construction for the scooters is a steel monocoque body. Both the VX and the S Vespas come with 200mm disc brakes at the front and 140mm drum brakes at the back.

Speaking about the brand’s reach in Nepal, Stefano Pelle, Managing Director, Piaggio India said, “This event is particularly important for the Piaggio Group that is very focused on this part of Asia in its globalisation strategies.

“The youth here [Nepal] has a great fashion sense of their own, which is why we think that Vespa will fit perfectly as a brand. We are certain that Vespa will allure the youth with its unmistakable style and Italian charm. We look forward to receiving a great response on this new venture.”

The Vespa VX has been launched at a sticker price of NPR 2.5 lakh (Rs 1.5 lakh), while the Vespa S will retail for NPR 2.64 lakh (Rs 1.65 lakh). The Vespa VX is available in five colours, while the other model will be available in four.
