A few days ago, we broke the news to you that the Triumph Street Triple bikes would be priced at around Rs 10 lakh-Rs 10.30 lakh for the R variant and between Rs 11.6 lakh-Rs 12 lakh for the RS. Now Triumph has finally launched the hotly anticipated middleweight nakeds in India, with the R variant priced at Rs 10.17 lakh and the RS variant priced at Rs 11.81 lakh.

Triumph Street Triple range details

The liquid-cooled, 765cc, three-cylinder engine powering the Street Triple bikes has been updated with Triumph’s learnings from the Moto2 world championship. Updates to this potent mill include new pistons, con rods, shorter intake trumpets as well as a new camshaft and increased valve lift. As a result, power has gone up to 120hp on the R and 130hp on the RS. Torque figures on both remain the same at 80Nm.

Both the bikes have had revisions to their respective chassis with a sharper rake and reduced wheelbase. The track-oriented RS takes it one step further with a taller subframe by means of a 20mm spacer on the monoshock. A noteworthy change to the Street Triple R is that it now runs on Continental ContiRoad tyres, instead of the Pirelli Diablo Rosso III hoops it use to be shipped with earlier. The RS ships with the super sticky Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres. While the R comes with the same Brembo M4.32 monobloc calipers as earlier, the RS’ braking hardware has been upgraded with Brembo Stylema units replacing the already very capable M50s it came with before.

Both bikes get an armada of IMU-enabled electronics including multi-level traction control, ABS, a bidirectional quickshifter as well as multiple riding modes. The R comes with four riding modes including Rain, Road, Sport and Rider (fully customizable). The RS takes it one step further with a Track riding mode in addition to the aforementioned ones. On the Street Triple R, you get a Trident-esque digital display, while on the RS you get a colour TFT dash.

Triumph Street Triple range: price & rivals

Now priced at Rs 10.17 lakh for the R and Rs 11.81 lakh for the RS, prices have risen by around Rs 1 lakh for the former and Rs 50,000 for the latter.

The Street Triple duo is rivalled by the Kawasaki Z900 (Rs 9.11 lakh) and the Ducati Monster lineup, which starts at Rs 12.95 lakh for the standard bike and goes up to Rs 15.95 lakh for the higher-spec SP variant. The Yamaha MT-09 was shown at a dealer conference a few months ago but since then there has been no indication from the company regarding when that bike will be launched in India.

All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, India.
