Speed Triple 1200 RX

Triumph has silently launched the Speed Triple 1200 RX in India at a price of Rs 23.07 lakh. It is a limited edition motorcycle and production is limited to 1,200 units worldwide

1. Triumph Street Triple 1200 RX features the same Ohlins Smart EC 3.0 active dampers
2. It commands a premium of Rs 1.31 lakh over the RS model
3. Features a more aggressive rider’s triangle

The RX gets a carbon-fibre, titanium made Akrapovic exhaust

The RX variant of the Speed Triple was unveiled earlier this year. It’s largely based on the Speed Triple 1200 RS but gets a few notable upgrades over it. For starters, it gets a sportier rider’s triangle, with the clip-ons set lower and farther from the rider. Additionally, the foot pegs are more rear-set and positioned slightly higher. It also sports an exclusive neon yellow-black colour scheme with RX graphics.

Braking duties are handled via a twin-disc setup paired to Brembo Stylema callipers with Brembo MCS radial master-cylinder. In this application too, the Speed Triple retains the Ohlins Smart EC 3.0 active suspension, accompanied by an Ohlins SD EC steering damper.

Powering the RX is the same 1,163cc inline-three liquid-cooled engine, producing 183hp at 10,750rpm and 128Nm at 8,750rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The RX also features a special Akrapovic end can. Although this exhaust is made from carbon fibre and titanium, it hasn’t resulted in any weight savings. At 199kg (kerb), the Speed Triple 1200 RX remains one of the lightest litre-class streetfighters.

Priced at Rs 23.07 lakh, the RX draws a price difference of Rs 1.31 lakh compared to the ‘Standard’ Speed Triple 1200 RS that retails at a price of Rs 21.76 lakh. The RX is limited to 1200 units worldwide and Triumph hasn’t disclosed the total number of units allocated for India.
