Globally, Triumph Motorcycles has an enviable range of motorcycles in its portfolio. The 28 model-strong line-up is as diverse as its impressive. The all-encompassing line-up includes sports, adventure, street, cruisers and classic bikes. With motorcycles like the ridiculously torquey 2300cc Rocket III, the super sports Daytona and raw Speed Triple, Triumph’s reputation has been cemented across every segment it's present in.

For the Indian foray, Triumph handpicked 11 of its best, which includes the retro Bonneville, Thruxton and T100.

While India is considered to be a sports bike or 'fairing' crazy market, it was anticipated that the popular Bonneville family would account for the majority of the sales in India. In the first five months since commencing activity in India, the Bonnie has steadily bumped up sales numbers for Triumph.

Vimal Sumbly, MD, Triumph Motorcycles summed up the Bonneville’s success to date by saying, “Bonneville accounts for 45 percent of the 335 bikes sold till now. Street, Explorer and the others, each account for 11 percent.”

Shailesh Bhandari, director, Triumph’s Pune showroom, has found his clients also of the same mindset. “More than half of the bikes are either Bonneville, T100 or Thruxton. While the 865cc air-cooled Bonneville is the most affordable motorcycle in the Triumph range, it is the cult status and easy going nature that make it so appealing.”

While Triumph expects Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru to be their biggest markets, Pune is off to a flying start.”

Shailesh adds, “We are delivering 25 bikes on the 2nd of May. Our target for the first year is 200 units and we expect to grow at 30 percent year on year.”

Triumph aims to boost its dealership network to 13 soon with at least one dealership in every state in the future.
