Borrowing inspiration from the legendary Triumph Bonneville from 1959, the Bonneville T100 shares its styling with the larger T120 and its engine with the Street Twin. It has been introduced by Triumph Motorcycles India to bridge the price gap between the T120 and the Street Twin. Although it borrows its retro-styling cues from the larger T120, the new chassis and suspension setup makes lighter and gives it a shorter wheelbase, and rake and trail; making it even more rider-friendly than the T120.

The latest bike shares the same high-torque, liquid-cooled, eight-valve, 900cc parallel twin from the Street Twin that produces a peak power output of 55hp at 5,900rpm and peak torque of 80Nm at 3,200rpm. Having ridden the Street Twin before, we can safely say that this is a very refined engine that is perfect for cruising along highways.

The T100 gets features like a ride-by-wire throttle, ABS, switchable traction-control, a torque-assisted clutch and a USB charging socket. Aside from the 14.5-litre, well sculpted tank on the T100, cosmetically, it also borrows its twin-pod instrument cluster that has a gear-position indicator, an odometer, two trip-meters, a service-indicator, distance to empty, average and current fuel consumption, a clock, and the traction-control settings. The T100 also gets twin pea-shooter-styled exhausts like on the T120. The T100 comes with a price-tag of Rs 7.78 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Vimal Sumbly, managing director, Triumph Motorcycles India commented, “India is a large and growing market for classic motorcycles. With our range of new, exciting and accessible modern classics like the all new Triumph Bonneville T100, we would further strengthen our market position in the above 500cc, Rs-5-lakh plus segment in India.”
